Baby Shower Party Party Announcement and Invitation

A friend told me about this:
A baby shower is a fun and wonderful way to welcome a new member of the family. The party highlights a fun event with exchanged gifts, games, food and drink. However, to experience this fun and festive party, you need to have careful planning and preparation. One of the first things you need to prepare is the party invitations. Baby shower invitations definitely make sense to a party and create a notion of what is to be celebrated.

To begin with party invitations, first you need to make a list of all your invited guests for the party. Usually, included in the guest list are families and friends of the soon-to-be parents. When choosing cards, consider the proper wording for your baby shower invitations. Information that needs to be included in your invitations are the date, location, directions, contact phone numbers, RSVP and party theme. The party theme will be the basis for your guests’ outfits, whether formal or informal they need to follow the party theme. With such information, you made a whiz about the event and perhaps your party guests will talk about it in anticipation.

A good choice of party invitation should coordinate with the party theme. Whether it is a surprise party or not, the theme of the party needs to be planned and prepared carefully. The chosen theme should give fascination to your guests. Themes like baby’s gender – choose blue if it’s a boy and pink if it’s a girl, cuddly animal, cartoon character, sports and the like. If you opt for something creative and unique, consider planning the party within a holiday, a season or an event. The creative theme of the invitation should highlight the tone of the special event. For example, the child’s due falls on the month of December, so you could think of a Christmas themed party in welcoming the child. Accessories and decorations are easy to find for such theme. Just make sure that the theme you choose can be carried through all of your preparations.

creative party invitations are a great way to highlight the theme and spirit of your welcoming party. It gives a personal and thoughtful touch to the invitation. The wording of the party invitation should include all essentials of the event.

Aside from invitations and other information, you should also think about your party games. Games are the ice breaker of the celebration and a great fun to have in parties. There are different game options you may consider to incorporate in your party. And you want to pick games that will be fun but not extremely challenging. Baby shower game ideas include guessing games, memory games, word games and more. You may incorporate all about your baby’s information, products and supplies. The guest with the highest score is the winner.

Lastly, your baby shower party will end with gift giving. Apart from the invitations, as a host, you need to prepare party favors for your guests. You may consider favors like baby stuff such as baby books, bibs, pacifier, infant clothing and more. You can have them personalized which can make a memorable party favor to commemorate the celebration.

Baby Shower How to Make Baby Shower Decorations for the Perfect Party

July 22, 2010 by

A friend told me about this:
If you want to know how to make baby shower decorations, you will have many different places to choose from. You can start with your local community college, which may offer arts and crafts lessons, or short courses on decoration making. Through these lessons, you can learn, though indirectly, how to make baby shower decorations. You can also learn how to make baby shower decorations through courses in lettering, calligraphy, and penmanship; flower arranging; and even welding!

There are many ways by which fashion and mom magazines can teach you how to make baby shower decorations. Fashion magazines will contain pictures on the latest fashion trends during certain seasons. They will also show the colors that will match winter, spring, summer, or fall – colors and themes that should aid you as you learn how to make baby shower decorations.

Stock up on art supplies. Keep pink and blue ribbons handy, as well as lace and eyelet trim. These can be used to decorate invitations, or to add to the edges of tables or desks. You can also decorate your venue’s walls with twisted ribbons, and hang decorations from these ribbons. Such decorations might include baby bottles filled with candies, baby socks filled with pastel-colored chewing gum, or even cloth diapers labeled with a baby’s name.

You may also need to stock up on baby-related supplies, such as clear sterile baby bottles, cloth diapers, socks, bibs, and even an antique stroller. An antique stroller, if well decorated, can serve as a great corner piece for a venue, or can be a good place for the baby shower guests to place their gifts in. You can use an antique stroller again and again if you want to make a business out of your baby shower decorations.

For even better baby shower decorations, keep small charms and figurines handy. You might also want to carry a small notebook and pen around on which to jot down your ideas. Consult with your baby supplies stores and department stores on the latest trends in baby fashion and toys so that you can spice up your decorations and baby shower planning strategies.

Baby Shower Theme: Going Green

June 12, 2010 by

Green would be a great color to use for an overall theme for the shower, especially if it’s not known if baby is going to be a girl or a boy. However, when I suggest that you may like to have a green baby shower, I’m talking about holding a shower that reflects your love of the world and helping make it a beautiful place for the new arrival.

If you like this idea as a theme for your baby shower, then, from the moment you adopt it, you will see how easy it is to source products and produce that will support you in this. The following are just a few examples of some elements of your shower to which you can add the green touch:

Invitations
Many adorable invitations, in both printed and print your own format, are available on paper and card made from recycled materials.

If you adopt the green theme this may even help you with the baby shower wording of your invitations. You could, perhaps, put something fun such as “Another branch is expected on our tree”, or “Another bird is going to join our flock”. Play around with the idea and take your inspiration from nature itself.

Decorations
Like invitations, made from recycled and recyclable material. If you are using bought flowers, then Fair Trade ones are available, as are organic and, of course, always shop locally if you can, to reduce your carbon footprint.

Feeling creative? How about spending a day foraging in nature and harvesting some of her gifts? Some of her gifts can be harvested without worry. If your baby shower is in the fall, then why not make use of pretty pine cones and fallen leaves?

Party Favors
If you are buying favors think about favors that are made from Fair Trade and organic materials. Again, you could give small gifts made from “green” materials. How about making your own chocolate or baked goods to give away, all made with organic ingredients, or cuttings from plants that you have lovingly sown yourself? Giving plants or cuttings away would be a lovely symbolic act of the new life that has just been grown by the Universe.

By now you have probably realized that a Green baby shower can also be an economic one!

Menu Ideas
In this area, too, the emphasis should be on organic, Fair Trade, and locally sourced food & ingredients. Providing the catering yourself would be the most environmentally friendly option, and this would enable you to carry your green theme through to the decoration of the food in a fun way. How about making a cake in the shape of a favorite wild animal? A hedgehog would be ideal for this due to its simple rotund body!

Consider also using crockery plates, rather than disposable ones, but if you do want the ease of doing this, then those made from recycled materials are available.

Gifts for Mom
If you are the organizer, then the theme is your theme, and the whole point of a gift is that it should be given from the heart. It would be unfair to then stipulate what your guests should bring. However, there is nothing wrong in a gentle nudge in the right direction with baby shower wording on your invites such as, “The theme is Green, so a planet-friendly gift would be great. Let’s help the new arrival have a cleaner, better world.” If your guests do decide to go along with the spirit of the event, they will find a wealth of organic and fair trade goods available in all price ranges.

Giving Back
We now all know that our precious world is vulnerable, and needs to be treasured and cared for, just like a baby. It is not by chance that we refer to nature as “Mother Nature”, for She nurtures and provides for us every day of our lives, and we live by the fruits of her labors. So how lovely to give something back to her at the end of the baby shower by planting a tree. What an beautiful way to remember the day that Mom was honored by her friends and family – and what a legacy for the new arrival, too.

If you want to give a gift of love, that also helps make our world a better place for baby, then please visit http://www.rainforestconcern.org/donate_now/sponsor_an_acre_of_rainforest where you can sponsor an acre of precious rainforest in baby’s name.

Thank you.

Making Your Coed Baby Shower Attractive For Men

May 24, 2010 by

What is a coed baby shower? It’s a shower that both men and women are invited to, rather than the more traditional women-only shower. And they are becoming more popular, as the old barriers that divide the sexes are slowly, but surely, pulled down.

It may seem like a great idea to organize a coed shower, but it’s a one-shot deal, so you have to get it right from the get go, and that means careful planning on your part. It’s all very well dreaming of a coed baby shower with harmony reigning supreme and laughter ringing in the air, but get it wrong, and it’ll end up with the women being involved with the baby shower, and the men crammed into the study watching a rerun of the ball game. This is not what you want.

So, how do you get it right? Well, simply running a traditional baby shower, with the usual frills and bows, and asking the girls to drag their guys along is not, despite what you may have read on the Internet, a good idea. Drop-out rates will be high, and, most likely, you’ll have the guys hanging around with sullen faces, looking at their watches every 2 minutes, wondering how they got suckered-in! The correct way is to make your coed baby shower attractive to the guys. Now nothing in life is free, and you have to accept that a trade-off is necessary. It may not seem like your idea of a coed baby shower heaven, but a barbecue can be the answer. It’s good for the guys, because guys like to flip burgers and show their culinary genius at the grill, and the girls can get on with the important stuff. The idea is to provide the men with a comfort zone, and a barbecue is perfect for that.

Obviously, you don’t want the guys to be in the garden all day burning food and drinking beer, so you have to encourage them to step indoors and take part in the shower. This is where shower games come into their own. A great game is “Couple Jeopardy”, in which each couple works as a team. Each team member takes a turn at going out of the room while the other is asked 5 questions about their partner. Once all 5 questions are answered, the other partner returns to the room and is asked the same questions. The game is hilarious when a couple try to talk their way out of answers they’ve given which they wish they hadn’t, or when they reveal their worst faults and most embarrassing moments!

The key here is to provide the guys with entertainment and keep them from getting bored. At the same time, don’t neglect the girls: keep the shower’s basic format traditional, so that the mom-to-be and her female friends share in the experience. Make sure that all guests have something to look forward to and something great to remember about you coed baby shower, and you will have a success on your hands.

Planning a Baby Shower

There’s something you may not realize: some people don’t like the idea of planning a baby shower! For some, it’s too much like hard work! I suppose not all of us are cut-out for running a social event. If you are worried that someone else may “steal” the organizing of a baby shower from your grasp, don’t worry too much: you may not have any competition!

However, if there is some competition, then you need to get smart and stay ahead of the pack. I suggest getting your hands on the Baby Shower Kit

You are, I am guessing, more than happy with the idea of planning a baby shower, and you’d like to do a good job of it, too. Well, you picked the right website! If you aren’t the one who will be planning holding a baby shower (maybe you are the mom-to-be), we should take a little time-out to talk about something important: a baby shower should be filled with laughter, joy, and a few tears of happiness. Yet putting one together can require a large investment of time and energy. Planning a baby shower may not be as demanding as planning for a wedding, but weddings are not usually planned by one person, whereas planning a baby shower is!

Planning a baby shower does require focus and time. If you’ve got someone in mind to take on this task, then that person must be fully aware that they’ll need to put in time and effort. Having said that, planning a baby shower is one of the most fun tasks of all!

If you’ve been asked to put organize a baby shower – or if it’s just been assumed that you’ll do it – and you’re a little worried about your own lack of time available, or lack of knowledge about baby showers, then don’t worry. This site is crammed with great ideas and tips!

Remember: recruiting a deputy, or two, to help you with the details, such as preparing food, refreshments, and helping with decorations and games, is fine. You will probably find that there are more volunteers than you had expected!

Baby Shower Centerpieces

March 14, 2010 by

If you are hoping that your baby shower gift will stand out from the crowd, then you need to understand baby shower centerpieces. A baby shower centerpiece is a key component of the big day and is an opportunity for you to show-off your skills, as well as make a truly useful gift for the mother-to-be.

In the past, the centerpiece was usually a simple floral display around which gifts and cards were placed. However, baby shower centerpieces have evolved, and the modern baby shower centerpiece is far more than a simple display, and you will want to get this aspect of the baby shower just right.

Towel Cakes and Diaper Cakes
Simple, floral, baby shower centerpieces are outdated; the new fad is for towel cakes and diaper cakes. Any mom-to-be is going to need mountains of towels and diapers, so you can help her out in real style by creating a towel or diaper cake. In essence, a cake of this sort is simply a carefully-crafted ensemble of either folded towels or diapers, cleverly decorated to look like a traditional celebration cake. A picture is worth a thousand words, so have a look at this great video by Carolyn Braden, and learn how to create a diaper cake:

Sock Flowers

Think diaper cakes are cute? You ain’t seen nothing yet!  Sock Flowers are a very cute alternative to standard floral centerpieces, and are surprisingly easy to make. Over to Carolyn for the full story:

So say goodbye to the old, stuffy baby shower centerpieces and floral displays of yesteryear and say hello to the modern takes on baby shower centerpieces. And remember: not only are centerpieces the focal point of any Shower table, they also make excellent gifts for the mom-to-be, because she’ll be able to make great use of the diapers, towels and socks when the baby arrives!

Baby Shower Decoration Ideas

March 14, 2010 by

The look and feel of a baby shower is an important aspect that you won’t want to get wrong. There is a wide variety of baby shower decoration ideas to choose from, and you may find it difficult to decide upon a coherent identity for the Shower.

I recommend that you consult carefully with the mother-to-be, as she will have her own ideas about color, theme and design, which you should strive to accommodate. It’s always a good idea to try first to fit the look and feel of the Shower with the theme picked out for the baby’s room, as it makes your task easier, and it shows support for the mom-to-be’s taste.

It shouldn’t be difficult to find matching party accessories, such as hats, plates, cups, napkins, tablecloths, streamers, etc. You name it and you can find whatever you need to fit in with any baby shower decoration ideas.

If there is no existing theme, or the mom-to-be fancies something different, then you will have to be a little more creative. If you know the sex of the baby, you could go with pink for a girl or blue for a boy. If you don’t you could combine the colors, or go with the popular neutral greens and yellows. Lemon yellow is a pretty good choice, as it is bright and clean.

When deciding on the decoration of the Shower, I suggest that you start with the centerpiece. This will provide focus and a “palette” to work with. Then work outwards:
The table: What about an attractive tablecloth? Candles? Name cards? Is new cutlery required? Might exotic glassware be a nice touch?

Party accessories: Balloons, perhaps with custom printing? Streamers, hats, games?
Be imaginative and try to spread the theme of the baby shower further than just one room, by applying small touches throughout the home.

And, finally, don’t forget the party favors – these can really jazz up the table and add to the decor.

You can have a lot of fun sitting around brainstorming baby shower decoration ideas with the other friends and family of the parents to be. Make sure to jot down all the good ideas and figure out all the items you need to pull your baby shower together and make it look beautiful!

Baby Shower Invitation Ideas

If you want to have a memorable baby shower, then you’ll want to take advantage of some of the baby shower invitation ideas out there.

Had you considered making your own Shower invitations? Sure, you can buy some gorgeous invitations (like those shown below), but, if money’s tight, then you may want to roll-up your sleeve, check that the printer has enough ink, and start getting creative! It may seem like the ideal solution, to make them yourself, but before you snip your first piece of high-quality card, think: how much money and time am I saving here? Really, how much? And will your invitations outclass those made by specialist suppliers?

Baby shower invitation ideas, by their very nature, tempt even the most inartistic among us to get deep into the “Craft Zone”, but bear in mind that the invitations are the first tangible aspect of the Shower that would-be guests will see. Unless you know that you have great art skills, then it may make more sense to leave that first wow! moment to the professionals!

Wilton Onesie Boy Fill In Baby Shower Invitations
Of course, they have other invitations that aren’t so “boy-ish” too! Plus you can look at specialty stores and even your local craft store to get more baby shower invitation ideas that will make your shower memorable.

When making your own invitations, you have a wide range of things to chose from. If your shower has a theme like Winnie The Pooh then you could get invitations to match. Otherwise, you might go with animals, flowers or even just a color scheme.

Baby Shower Game Ideas

March 14, 2010 by

My sister was running a baby shower for a close friend and she wanted to make it fun, so she came to me looking for some baby shower game ideas. Baby shower games are one of those things that you simply must get right.

Being that it is a shower, you want to allot enough time for the mother to be to open her gifts and for people to socialize and eat. Also, keep in mind that most people are only expecting to spend 2 – 4 hours at the shower so having a lengthy game that makes the shower too long wouldn’t be cool.

Here are some baby shower game ideas that can break up the monotony, but don’t take all day to play! For each of these, you will want to have some sort of prize ready for the winner.

1. Guess Mommy’s size – in this game, people try to guess the size of the mother-to-be’s stomach. What you do is pass around a ball of yarn and some scissors and have each guest cut the yarn to the size they think will fit around mommy’s tummy. The one who comes closes wins!

2. Memory game – this kind of game can be played at any shower really but in this case you want to fill a tray up with common baby items and pass it around the room. Then remove the tray and have the guests write down all the items they can remember. The one who can remember the most wins!

3. Name Those Baby Items – similar to the game above, in this one you pass out paper and pencils and have the guest list as many baby items as they can in a 5 minute period. She who lists the most wins!

There are plenty more baby shower ideas, including games, in the Baby Shower Kit shown on the top right of this page!

Baby Shower Party Favors

Baby shower party favors can be an important part of your baby shower decor so you want to have something that is attractive and also useful. Here are some ideas for party favors that will brighten up the party and put a smile on your guests faces:

1. Photo Frames – how about a nice photo frame that matches the color or theme of your party. The guests can use it to put a picture of the new baby in when he or she arrives!

2. Candles – These make a nice party favor for any party and are very useful. You can buy the colors to match your decor but the best thing about them is that they will make the party smell great!

3. Food – giving little candies in netting is a standard shower favor, but you can take it one step further (and save yourself some money) by baking cookies or making your own candies and serving them up in a cute wrapping.

4. Themed favors – if your shower has a theme then giving out baby shower party favors that match the theme can be fun. Give little crystal pieces or knick knacks that depict the theme and your guests are sure to remember your shower every time they look at it!

When it comes to baby shower party favors, you don’t have to go overboard and spend a lot of money, but if you create something that is thoughtful and from the heart, then they are sure to please everyone.
